HIV In Africa
When it comes to AIDS, Africa has the highest population of infected people. African Aids killed over 1.3 million people in 2007 alone. In the Sub-Saharan cases of AIDS, Africa holds the fastest growth rate in the world, with one in five being affected.

African AIDS has very little difference from the types of AIDS found in the rest of the world. However, most African AIDS subtypes may have enough difference that they would not respond to a vaccine created for other countries. The other main distinction between AIDS in the United States and African AIDS is the number of opportunistic infections that can be found in Africa. With TB and other diseases being found in Africa, African AIDS can often progress faster and have a higher death rate. African AIDS is spread through the same means as other strands of AIDS. However, these other diseases are often the main reason for the higher death rate in African AIDS cases.

Impact of African Aids

African AIDS has caused the life expectancy in some parts of the country to drop from 60 years to only 40. African AIDS is also depleting the nation of its younger citizens. Since AIDS is know as a young people’s disease, this is having a major economical effect on the nation. When it comes to AIDS, Africa also has the highest orphan rate worldwide. These children become orphans because of the number of parents dying from the African AIDS virus. It is estimated that more than 15 million children have lost one or both parents to the AIDS virus.

There are many causes to the number of deaths related to AIDS. Africa has very few medical establishments in rural areas. There is also little to prevent AIDS. Africa is a poor country and most citizens do not have access to condoms and AIDS testing. There are also many cultural aspects that affect the number of cases of AIDS. Africa is known as a country that participates in rituals such as blood pacts. Since the effects are so wide spread of AIDS, Africa has many citizens claiming that the government is using the disease as a way to eradicate the poor overpopulation in the country. Officials have stated to the contrary that the AIDS virus is killing the younger and more productive members of society, and they are doing all they can to help.

When it comes to AIDS, Africa says they will never be able to control the outbreak unless they can boost the economy and provide better medical facilities. Many countries are trying to raise funds to fight AIDS. Africa is the number one recipient of donations made by countries world wide. However, the amount of money donated is millions less than it will take to fund a full blown effort to end AIDS; Africa is currently in need of at least 10 million more dollars just to begin the fight. Until these funds can be found, the number of people who die each year will continue to rise.
